Stella Li is a licensed graduate Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Maryland. She completed her undergraduate work at Smith College with a degree in Psychology. She obtained her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Converse College while working closely with a diverse population. Stella works particularly well with ADHD and LGBTQ+ clients.

As a Marriage and Family Therapist, Stella is trained to work from a systemic lens. Her focus is on how multiple factors-environmental, relational, etc.-may contribute to a client’s distress, and what resources might be available in these areas of the client’s life. As a result, Stella strives to provide a space that is anti-racist and LGBTQ+ friendly, paying particular attention to societal pressures and internalized forces.

Stella has found that with couples, building intimacy and improving communication is vital work that is most certainly easier said than done. After all, old patterns are hard to break. With this in mind, Stella uses a narrative and experiential framework, exploring the meaning people make from their lives; what has been learned, where it has been learned, and how it has affected them. She works with clients to explore themselves in relation to the world around them in order to reach a more complete understanding of different ways to move forward.

In her spare time, Stella enjoys devouring stories. Novels, comics, video games, theater, concept albums, convoluted ARGs that ended years ago, if there’s an interesting story to be told she’s ready to dive in regardless of whatever medium it’s in.
