Turntable Counseling, LLC, a vibrant Black-owned and WOC-operated private practice, is excited to announce openings for part-time and full-time contract therapists at our expanding Burtonsville, MD location. We proudly serve Montgomery, PG, Howard, and Anne Arundel Counties, assisting our clients in crafting their own paths to healing and transforming their lives. Our practice specializes in Anxiety, Self-Esteem, and Life Transitions, LGBTQIA2+ persons, and catering to both private pay and insurance-based clients. Our dedicated and collaborative team, consisting of clinicians, supervisors, and students, stays connected through bi-weekly clinical pow-wows. A strong preference will be given to clinicians passionate about working with children and adolescents.

We are looking for diverse and passionate clinicians to join our already dope team. The ideal candidate is a fully licensed clinician or a graduate licensed clinician in the State of Maryland with at least 1-year of clinical experience, preferably in private practice. It is essential that the candidate has experience working with people of various racial/ethnic backgrounds, children, adolescents, families, couples, groups, and/or adults.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide clinical, therapeutic services to clients and families, including individual, family, and group therapy, crisis intervention, advocacy, diagnostic assessment, treatment planning, and discharge planning.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary teamwork and collaborate with community providers as needed.
  • Ensure timely and satisfactory documentation of all treatment efforts and progress in compliance with agency standards, licensing board requirements, and COMAR regulations.
  • Abide by all safety rules and regulations of the agency and facility.
  • Maintain ethical standards per licensure and perform services professionally, aligning with the agency’s mission and values.
  • Perform duties as needed to achieve agency goals and maintain quality standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervision and Coordination of Services:

  • Report directly to the immediate supervisor and/or the Executive Director.
  • Collaborate with other professionals and care providers through interdisciplinary teamwork.
  • Adhere to the ethics of the respective profession.

Education and Experience:

  • Licensed Mental Health Professional in the State of Maryland (e.g., LCPC, LGPC, LCSW-C, LGMFT, LCMFT, etc.) with experience as required by the credentialing process.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Willing to work at least 15-20 hours per week.
  • Organizational skills and ability to manage patient records.
  • Self-discipline and ability to prioritize documentation.

Payment:

  • Clinical contractors will be paid $45-$65 per clinical session, with opportunities for increased payment per session.

Overview: 

This internship opportunity provides hands-on experience in a clinical counseling setting, preparing interns for licensure as Professional Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists, or Clinical Social Workers. The intern will work under the supervision of licensed clinicians, gaining valuable insight and practical skills in providing therapeutic services to diverse populations.

Under the supervision of a Licensed Supervisor, Clinical Masters level student interns will perform the duties of a Clinical Psychotherapist including:

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct individual, couple, family, and group therapy sessions under the supervision of licensed clinicians
  • Develop treatment plans and goals in collaboration with clients, incorporating evidence-based interventions
  • Complete diagnostic assessments using DSM-5 criteria, including the use assessment tools such as the PHQ-9 and GAD-7
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress and treatment outcomes that adhere to the standards and regulations set forth by the practice and licensing boards
  • Participate in individual and group clinical supervision sessions, interdisciplinary team meetings and case consultations
  • Adhere to ethical guidelines and professional standards in all aspects of practice.
  • Demonstrate cultural competence and sensitivity in working with clients from diverse backgrounds
  • Perform duties as needed in accordance with achieving agency goals and maintaining quality standards

Minimum Requirements:

  • Enrollment in a Master’s level Counseling program leading to clinical licensure (e.g., Professional Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist, Clinical Social Worker)
  • Approval from graduate program regarding internship site suitability
  • Completion of foundational counseling coursework (e.g., Basic Counseling Techniques, Counseling Methods)
  • Completion of at least one graduate-level psychopathology course (e.g., Abnormal Psychology, Psychopathology and Diagnosis)
  • Demonstrated understanding of basic counseling skills and familiarity with the DSM-5 and diagnostic criteria
  • Interest in serving diverse populations
  • Liability insurance coverage prior to commencing practicum/internship
  • Commitment to a minimum of one full year, including practicum and internship, with ability to continue between semesters
  • Ideal candidate seeks to complete Practicum, Internship I, and Internship II (three semesters) at the site
